Okanagan Wineries - Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Skyline Apps ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Okanagan Wineries mobile application ("the App").

Information We Collect

Personal Information

We do not collect any personal information. The App does not require an account, does not ask for your name, email, or any other personal data, and does not track your identity in any way.

Location Data

The App uses your device's location services to show your position on the winery map and calculate distances to wineries. Location data is sent to Google Places API when refreshing winery data to find nearby wineries. Your location is never stored on our servers or shared with any other party. You can deny location access and the App will still function — the map will simply not show your current position.

Cached Data

The App caches winery information and photos locally on your device for up to 30 days to improve performance and reduce API usage. Offline downloads are also stored locally with a 30-day expiry. This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Data Storage

All user-created data — including favourites, star ratings, visit status, personal notes, tasting journal entries, wine collection entries, and trip plans — is stored locally on your device only. This data is never transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party. If you delete the App, this data is permanently removed.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Google Places API — Used to retrieve winery information, photos, ratings, and operating hours. Your approximate location is sent to Google when refreshing winery data. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Open Food Facts API — Used for wine barcode lookups in the Wine Collection feature. Only the scanned barcode number is sent to the service. See Open Food Facts Terms of Use.

The App may also display links to third-party services such as Booking.com, Viator, and OpenTable. Tapping these links opens your browser or the respective app — no data is shared with these services until you choose to interact with them directly.

Analytics and Tracking

The App does not use any analytics services, crash reporting tools, or tracking technologies. We do not use cookies, advertising identifiers, or any form of device fingerprinting.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no personal information is collected, there is no risk of children's data being gathered or shared.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
