ReaderZ - Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Skyline Apps ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the ReaderZ mobile application ("the App").

Information We Collect

Child Profile Data

The App allows you to create profiles for children, including their first name, age, avatar emoji, and daily reading goal. This information is stored locally on your device and, for Premium subscribers, may be synced to your private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit service.

Reading Data

The App records reading sessions (duration, pages read, date), book information (title, author, cover images), badges earned, reading streaks, and book journal entries. This data is stored locally on your device and, for Premium subscribers, synced via CloudKit.

Photos

If you choose to add a custom book cover photo, the App accesses your photo library to let you select an image. Selected photos are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to any third-party server.

Camera

The App uses your device's camera to scan book barcodes (ISBN) for quick book lookup. Camera data is processed entirely on your device in real time and is not recorded or stored.

Purchase Data

In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store any payment information. Purchase entitlements are verified on-device using Apple's StoreKit 2 framework.

Cloud Sync (Premium Feature)

Premium subscribers may optionally sync their data across devices using Apple's CloudKit service. Synced data is stored in your private iCloud account and is accessible only to devices signed into your Apple ID. We do not have access to your iCloud data. Cloud sync can be disabled by downgrading from Premium.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

  • Apple CloudKit — Used to sync reading data across devices for Premium subscribers. Data is stored in your private iCloud account. See Apple's Privacy Policy .
  • Apple StoreKit — Used to process in-app purchases. All payment processing is handled by Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy .
  • Open Library API — Used to look up book information when scanning ISBN barcodes. Only the ISBN number is sent; no personal data is transmitted. See Open Library's Privacy Policy .
  • Google Analytics for Firebase — Used to collect anonymous usage analytics such as app interactions and feature usage. No personally identifiable information is collected. Analytics data is not linked to individual users. See Firebase Privacy Information .

Data Storage

All user data is stored locally on your device as JSON files. Premium subscribers who enable cloud sync also have their data stored in their private iCloud account managed by Apple. We do not operate servers that store your personal information.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. We do not use any advertising SDKs. We use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous usage data to improve the App. The only other external data transmission is ISBN numbers sent to Open Library for book lookups.

Children's Privacy

ReaderZ is designed for families with children ages 5-12. The App collects only the minimal information needed to track reading progress (first name, age, and reading data). We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, or any other personally identifiable information from children.

All data is stored locally on the parent's device or in the parent's private iCloud account. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent. The parent or guardian who installs and configures the App provides implicit consent for the data collected.

Data Deletion

You can delete individual child profiles and all associated data from within the App at any time. To remove all app data, uninstall the App from your device. If you use cloud sync, you can also delete your iCloud data by contacting us at skylineapps1689@gmail.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
